Wintermute Expands to U.S. with New York Office
Wintermute has set up shop in the U.S. by opening a new office in New York city. This move is part of the company’s global expansion strategy.
To lead its U.S. efforts, Wintermute has hired Ron hammond as Head of Policy and Advocacy. Hammond has a strong background in policy, having worked at the Blockchain Association and on capitol hill. He was also involved in drafting the Token Taxonomy Act.
Hammond believes the U.S. regulatory environment is becoming more supportive. “We see a great chance to promote responsible innovation,” he said. His role will involve working with policymakers, industry groups, and regulators like the SEC.
Wintermute’s CEO, Evgeny Gaevoy, said the New York office will help the firm support U.S. partners and offer local OTC services. Gaevoy noted that Wintermute takes a “policy-neutral” stance and plans to hire more staff in the U.S.
The company’s daily trading volume exceeds $15 billion, and it provides liquidity on over 60 exchanges. Wintermute’s U.S. expansion follows the opening of its Singapore office in late 2024. The firm aims to shape the evolving crypto regulatory landscape in the U.S.
