Monex Gains Strong Control Over 3iQ to Boost Crypto Business
Monex Group has significantly increased its control over 3iQ Digital Holdings, now owning 97.8%. This move aligns with Monex’s goal to expand its institutional crypto asset business.
The acquisition involves a CAD 45.84 million buyout, consolidating 3iQ as a cornerstone of Monex’s global digital strategies. Since joining forces in april 2024, 3iQ has launched groundbreaking products like the Solana Staking ETF and an XRP ETF on the Toronto Stock Exchange this year.

Monex plans to tap into this demand with 3iQ’s innovative offerings. these include staking ETFs and tokenized assets, appealing to pension funds, hedge funds, and other large investors needing regulated digital asset exposure.
In another strategic move, Monex explores issuing yen-backed stablecoins. These would be secured by assets like Japanese government bonds, enhancing cross-border and corporate payments. This initiative intends to benefit Coincheck and Monex Securities customers.
