PSG Embraces Bitcoin as a Strategic Asset
Paris Saint-Germain, a top European football club, has revealed it now holds Bitcoin on its balance sheet. This groundbreaking step in the global sports industry was announced at the Bitcoin 2025 conference in Las Vegas. Par Helgosson, the head of PSG Labs, confirmed that the club converted some of its fiat reserves into Bitcoin in 2024 and continues to hold it.
PSG’s move sets it apart as the first professional sports team to adopt Bitcoin as a treasury asset. Most other sports clubs connect with crypto through fan tokens, NFTs, or sponsorships. PSG is making a direct investment in the digital asset.
Helgosson stated, “We allocated Bitcoin from our fiat reserves. It’s still on our books. We’re investing in the ecosystem, not just sponsoring crypto.” The strategy resonates well with PSG’s young, digitally savvy fanbase, 80% of whom are under 34 years old.
The news sparked a positive reaction in the market. PSG’s Fan Token, available on Socios since 2018, jumped to $2.
