VanEck Predicts bitcoin to Hit $180,000 by Year-End

Market trends show Bitcoin hitting a new price record on August 13, 2025. Despite being slightly above July’s peak, VanEck noticed bullish signals in the Bitcoin futures markets. The CME basis funding rates peaked at 9%, a six-month high. Options showed increasing calls, reaching a 3.21x ratio – the highest as June 2024.
Corporate demand also surged, wiht exchange-Traded products acquiring significant BTC volumes. Yet, Ethereum’s rising popularity caused Bitcoin’s market dominance to slip from 64.5% to 59.7%. Network transactions rose sharply, with a median fee drop of 13%.

While some mining stocks like APLD saw a jump of 54%, others declined. Bitcoin public treasury companies experienced a fall in mNAV shares amid subdued volatility. In contrast, Bitcoin ordinals saw a 43% rise, driven by anticipated changes in Bitcoin Core nodes.
VanEck anticipates possible volatility spikes could harm DATs’ fundraising abilities. Despite this, analysts expect Bitcoin at $180,000 by year-end. This prediction adjusts previous bullish forecasts accounting for current price dynamics.
