Acheron Trading Secures CASP License, Paving Way for EU Crypto Market Making
Acheron Trading has made history by becoming the first crypto market maker to obtain a CASP license. This license allows the company to provide its services throughout the European Union under the MiCA regulations.
The Singapore-based firm received the Crypto-Asset Service provider (CASP) license from the Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM). This achievement places Acheron on the AFM’s public register and the European Securities Markets Authority list.
Before Acheron,no dedicated crypto market maker had secured a CASP license under MiCA. as of January 2025,only four crypto firms have received this license from the AFM.
Laurent Benayoun, CEO of Acheron Trading, highlighted the growing interest in crypto across Europe. He noted that retail, corporate, and institutional investors are increasingly adopting digital assets.
Benayoun expressed optimism about more CASP service providers, especially exchanges, getting licensed in the coming months. This will help unlock the full potential of the EU crypto market.
Acheron plans to seek licenses in other regions to enhance compliance. the goal is to support global efforts for clearer crypto regulations.
Established in 2018, Acheron is trusted by over 400 issuers. The MiCA laws, effective since December 30, 2024, require crypto firms to register for a license to operate in the EU.
