Remixpoint CEO Gets Paid in Bitcoin: A First for Japan
Japanese consulting firm Remixpoint has made history. It’s the first publicly listed company in Japan to pay its CEO entirely in Bitcoin. The CEO,Yoshihiko Takahashi, made this decision himself. He sees it as a way to show his commitment to the company’s Bitcoin strategy.
Takahashi said, “Receiving my salary in Bitcoin shows I’m in the same boat as our shareholders.” This move aligns him with the company’s investors. Shareholders had asked the company to hold its own stocks. but due to regulatory issues, this wasn’t possible.
So, the company decided to pay the CEO’s salary in Bitcoin. This way, the company’s leadership shares the same economic fate as shareholders. It fosters a system that aligns economic value with investors.
Bitcoin’s price has dipped slightly by 0.45% in the past 24 hours. It’s currently trading at $108,461. In the past week, it has gone up by 1.59%. Many companies worldwide are now holding Bitcoin. But Remixpoint is an early adopter. It started holding Bitcoin in September 2024. The company now holds 1,051 BTC, worth about $114.03 million.
