SpaceX’s Polar Orbit Mission Funded by Bitcoin Investor
Elon Musk’s SpaceX is set to launch a groundbreaking mission,Fram2,funded by Chun Wang,a Bitcoin mining pool founder. This mission will send four individuals on a polar orbit, a first for human spaceflight.
Chun Wang, the financier behind Fram2, made his fortune through F2Pool, a Bitcoin mining operation. The mission will launch from Florida on March 31st at 9:46 p.m. ET. The crew includes Chun Wang and three adventurers he met during polar expeditions.
The Fram2 mission aims for a 90-degree inclination, flying directly over Earth’s poles. This path is typically used by satellites for Earth observation but has never been attempted by a human crew. The mission will last three to five days.
Research opportunities abound on Fram2. The crew will study the effects of space travel on the human body, including brain fluid shifts and sleep disruptions. They will also participate in MRI scans similar to those in SpaceX’s 2024 Polaris Dawn mission.
Space adaptation syndrome, a form of motion sickness affecting over 60% of astronauts, will be studied. The mission will also include an experiment by Hormona to track hormone fluctuations in female astronauts, addressing a gender data gap in medicine.
Additional experiments include growing mushrooms in space, testing exercise routines in microgravity, and observing polar auroras. The crew will attempt to document Steve, a mysterious auroral phenomenon.
Upon completion, the crew will splash down in the Pacific Ocean, bringing valuable data and insights back to Earth.
