Japanese Firm Metaplanet Boosts Bitcoin Holdings
Metaplanet, a Japanese investment firm, has added more Bitcoin to its portfolio. The company recently bought 1,088 BTC, spending around $117.7 million. This purchase brings its total BTC holdings to nearly 9,000.
On June 2, Metaplanet acquired the new BTC at an average price of $108,209. With this, the firm now holds 8,888 BTC, valued at about $851 million. According to Bitcoin Treasuries’ database, Metaplanet is now the 10th largest corporate BTC holder.
however, it still trails behind Michael Saylor’s Strategy, which holds 580,250 BTC. Currently,Bitcoin is trading at $104,848,up 0.4% in the past 24 hours.
Metaplanet also shared updates on its BTC Yield. This metric calculates the percentage ratio between the company’s Bitcoin holdings and its shares. In Q1 2025, the BTC Yield was 95.6%, down from 309.8% at the end of 2024. From April 1 to June 2, the yield was 66.3%.
Recently, Metaplanet issued $50 million in 0% ordinary bonds to EVO FUND.The funds will be used to buy more Bitcoin.
