Los Angeles police have apprehended two individuals linked to a South American cargo theft ring.The suspects were caught with over $3.9 million in stolen goods, including $2.7 million worth of Bitcoin mining computers.
The LAPD’s Cargo Theft unit, along with other agencies, arrested Oscar David Borrero-Manchola, 41, and Yonaiker Rafael Martinez-Ramos, 25. The operation, targeting high-value tech shipments, led to the recovery of stolen items at LAX. The mining computers were intercepted as thay were being loaded onto a plane headed to Hong Kong. This highlights the growing threat of organized theft groups targeting valuable tech.
