JPMorgan Under Jamie dimon to Allow Bitcoin Purchases for Clients
Jamie Dimon, CEO of JPMorgan, has revealed that his bank will let clients buy Bitcoin. this proclamation came during JPMorgan’s annual investor day on May 19, 2025.
Dimon, known for his long-standing skepticism toward Bitcoin, emphasized that JPMorgan would not hold custody of the digital asset. He saeid, “I don’t think you should smoke, but I defend your right to smoke. I defend your right to buy Bitcoin.”
Despite his personal views, Dimon’s decision aligns with a broader trend as other major banks like morgan Stanley embrace crypto.this shift is fueled by the launch of Bitcoin spot exchange-traded funds and the growing institutional demand.
Dimon has previously called Bitcoin “worthless” and likened it to a “fraud.” He has also expressed a desire to shut it down if he were the goverment. In contrast, prominent financial institutions are increasingly seeing opportunities in the crypto market.
The regulatory landscape is also evolving, with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and banking regulators taking a more positive stance. This change is partly influenced by President Donald Trump’s pro-crypto policies.
Dimon’s mixed stance reflects the complex interplay between personal beliefs and institutional trends in the rapidly advancing world of cryptocurrency.
