FOMO’s $500 offer for 30 videos divides crypto creators over pay

FOMO’s offer of $500 a month for at least 30 promotional videos has sparked a dispute among crypto creators over production time, workload, and referral-based compensation. Summary FOMO offers $500 monthly for at least 30 original videos, each posted across three social platforms. Creators dispute the workload, with the listing specifying 10–15 weekly hours and defenders estimating less. Referral fee sharing starts at 25%, with the listing advertising higher percentages and performance bonuses. Creators disagree over whether simple promotional clips justify the advertised rate and expected workload. Eliza, a video creator, criticized the offer in an Oct. 26 X post that included a recruitment listing describing a monthly retainer and an estimated commitment of 10–15 hours a week. FOMO’s creator listing combines a retainer with referral payments The recruitment text shared by Eliza asks creators to start accounts on TikTok, Instagram and YouTube dedicated to the FOMO trading app, then publish at least 30 videos a month across them. Alongside the production requirement, the listing calls for proactive communication and says consistent results can lead to more work and better pay. Its payment summary describes the $500 retainer as a fixed monthly payment. Dividing that amount by the minimum 30 original videos gives a base payment of approximately $16.67 per video, before any performance bonuses or referral earnings. Because every video must appear on all three platforms, completing the minimum would mean 90 platform uploads during the month. The listing describes 30 original videos distributed across those accounts, without requiring 90 separately produced videos. Beyond the retainer, the recruitment text offers creators 25% of fees generated by people they refer to the app. It says the percentage can reach 75% with higher referral numbers, although the visible text does not give the thresholds for each tier or specify the size of performance bonuses. Creators disagree over how long 30 videos take Questioning the offer, Eliza described FOMO as one of the industry’s highest earners and argued that the time required to make each video made the proposed compensation too low. “Tell me this is a joke,” she wrote after describing the monthly video requirement. Her post did not provide revenue figures to substantiate the claim about the company’s earnings. In an Oct. 27 response, Clemente rejected the argument that a profitable crypto company should necessarily pay creators more than brands outside the industry. He said creators accepting the offer could produce 30 videos in roughly five hours or less. “That’s $100 an hour!” he wrote, using a five-hour production estimate for the full monthly batch. Using the recruitment listing’s stated commitment produces a different calculation. At 10–15 hours a week over an explicitly assumed four-week month, the role would involve 40–60 hours, giving a base hourly equivalent of $8.33–$12.50. Both calculations exclude the advertised bonuses and referral payments. No disrespect to Eliza but what do you expect from Fomo?Just because they’re making money they need to pay UGC creators more money than the rest of the market??Spoiler alert: This is how much UGC creators make outside of CryptoIf no one was taking their rates, they would… https://t.co/IXIBKHPS4d— Clemente (@clementetv_) October 27, 2026 Another participant, GUJJU, defended the offer as common pricing for simple Instagram and TikTok content. The post described starting a new account for a brand and regularly publishing short videos, arguing that the work did not require high production values or sophisticated editing. GUJJU estimated five to 10 minutes per video. Applied to 30 videos, that estimate gives 2.5–5 hours of production, without specifying time for account setup, uploads, communication, or revisions. why are some people getting mad after seeing fomo ugc pricing lol$500 for 30 videos, understand it might not be a good fit for you butthis type of pricing is pretty common for simple IG/TT content>you create new account for the brand>start posting short videos regular…— GUJJU (@GUJJUIIXI) October 27, 2026 BITKING partly agreed with Eliza’s complaint while arguing that $500 for 30 user-generated content videos was normal outside crypto. FOMO has advertised a separate clipping retainer A separate FOMO campaign operated by Clip Farm on Content Rewards lists a $500 monthly retainer for 62 clips per cycle. At the time of review, the campaign page displayed a paused status and described payouts as prorated. Its brief calls for one general account covering multiple FOMO creators, including Orangie and Insentos, with material drawn from streams, podcasts, and designated clip banks. Editors are instructed to remove dead space, add supplementary footage, and use on-screen hook text; unedited reposts do not qualify for payment. The campaign instructs participants to focus on personalities, with most posts not mentioning FOMO, and to identify the app in a pinned reply when viewers ask. Its 62-clip requirement differs from the original-video offer shared by Eliza. FOMO previously announced a $75 million Series B led by Index Ventures on June 22, with participation from Union Square Ventures and Benchmark. As crypto.news previously reported, the June Series B round valued the company at $550 million. The company’s announcement put registered users above 625,000 and cumulative trading volume above $4 billion. By Oct. 23, FOMO had launched its own bridge and trading router after a limited rollout. The company said the infrastructure handled cross-chain transactions in under one second. US guidance requires disclosure of paid endorsements Paid crypto promotion has faced changing platform rules. On March 2, X’s revised paid partnership policy permitted crypto promotions subject to disclosure requirements and applicable advertising laws, with restrictions in jurisdictions including the European Union, United Kingdom and Australia. The Federal Trade Commission’s influencer guidance says a financial relationship with a brand must be disclosed when endorsing its products. For video endorsements, the agency says the disclosure should appear in the video itself, not solely in its description. The agency places responsibility for making disclosures on the influencers themselves. Posts made outside the United States can fall under US law when effects on US consumers are reasonably foreseeable.
