Head of Base, Jesse Pollak, disclosed that the Base network is considering launching its own token.This revelation came during BaseCamp 2025 in Stowe, Vermont, on september 15. The move aims to transform Base from a utility chain into a comprehensive ecosystem.
The team believes this transition will allow developers direct access to the platform’s features. They emphasized operability and openness as crucial principles for Base. To bolster interoperability, the project announced an open-source bridge connecting base and Solana.

Coinbase had previously avoided a token due to regulatory uncertainties. However, recent shifts in U.S. policies make Initial Coin Offerings more feasible. under the new SEC leadership, the risk of the Base token being classified as a security considerably decreases.
