Cardano’s Genius Yield advances in Real-World Asset Tokenization
The Cardano (ADA) ecosystem is making strides in the real-world asset (RWA) tokenization sector. Genius Yield, a prominent protocol within the Cardano network, has recently achieved a notable milestone.
On April 18, Genius Yield announced the approval of its second milestone for RWA swaps. This milestone, part of the F12 Catalyst proposal, focuses on regulatory compliance. It includes detailed procedures for asset auditing and ownership verification. These steps are crucial for building investor trust by ensuring the authenticity and real ownership of assets.
The next phase involves creating a digital onboarding portal for asset owners. Following this, the platform will develop mechanisms for token issuance and rewards distribution. This sets the stage for the platform’s launch.
Genius Yield is not alone in this endeavor. Other Cardano projects like Empowa and Tiamonds are also working on RWAs. Empowa is developing a property funding platform for the African market, while Tiamonds focuses on tokenizing and trading diamonds.
rwas are becoming a key use case for crypto. They involve converting real-world assets into tradable tokens, which can represent fractional ownership. This is notably useful in traditionally illiquid markets like real estate and fine art.
According to Brickken, the total value locked in tokenized assets reached $50 billion by March this year, with $30 billion from tokenized real estate. McKinsey projects the RWA market could hit $2 trillion by 2030.
