Ethereum Applications Guild Launches too boost Ethereum’s Submission Phase
On october 2, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin adn HashKey Group CEO Dr. Xiao Feng unveiled the Ethereum Applications Guild (EAG) at the Token2049 summit in Singapore. This initiative aims to propel Ethereum into its application-driven era.
The EAG builds on the success of Shanhaiwoo, a collaborative experiment initiated by Xiao Feng in 2023. Shanhaiwoo has hosted global builders in various locations,fostering cross-disciplinary work in AI,crypto,and public goods. The experiment revealed that Ethereum’s main challenge is not technological but structural.
Participants found that the ecosystem lacks a sustainable, structured co-creation mechanism. Public goods funding is limited, and large-scale applications are yet to materialize.The EAG aims to address these issues by encouraging developers to build, validate, and advance solutions for real-world problems.
Dr. Xiao Feng views the guild as a “pivotal moment” for Ethereum’s application layer. He likens the current period to the “1995 moment” of the commercial internet, predicting an application explosion. Vitalik Buterin agrees, urging long-term builders to focus on Ethereum and push the ecosystem beyond infrastructure.
The EAG has invited treasury groups, research institutions, Layer 2 teams, and protocol foundations to join. The goal is to create a broad, bottom-up coalition. This initiative marks a meaningful step toward realizing Ethereum’s full potential.
