New Crypto regulations Urgently needed in Belarus
Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has sternly called for immediate cryptocurrency regulations. This comes after an audit revealed that roughly half of all citizen investments sent abroad never return.
During a government conference, lukashenko criticized the lack of comprehensive crypto oversight. “It’s unacceptable,” he stated, referencing his earlier orders from 2023. The president seeks clearer rules for digital transactions.
- The current framework under Ordinance No. 8 is considered inadequate.
- A state audit found important issues with financial operations.
- Stronger state involvement is needed to protect investors.
Lukashenko wants regulations that secure the contry’s economic interests. The rapid growth of “digital life” requires new laws, he argued. The Hi-Tech Park (HTP), currently the main regulator, must adjust its approach, potentially partnering with other state agencies for stricter supervision.
The new rules will define essential aspects of cryptocurrency use. They aim to ensure financial stability while allowing legitimate businesses to thrive in Belarus’ digital ecosystem.
