Abu Dhabi Airports launches Digital Wallet Pilot for Seamless Travel
Abu Dhabi Airports is set to revolutionize travel with a new digital wallet pilot at Zayed International Airport. This initiative, a collaboration with Al hail Holding and Xare, aims to enhance teh travel experience through crypto and stablecoins.
Starting October 10, inbound travelers at Zayed International Airport can use digital assets for purchases. The pilot project seeks to make the airport a hub for digital commerce.Elena Sorlini, CEO of Abu Dhabi Airports, says the project will simplify the traveler journey. It will also explore AI and sustainable infrastructure to boost efficiency.
The partnership aligns with the UAE’s digital Economy Strategy and Vision 2030.A joint committee will manage the project. Abu Dhabi Airports will provide infrastructure, while Al Hail Holding handles regulations. Xare will lead the technology side.
The project aims to position Abu Dhabi as a leader in digital asset innovation and smart travel. Zayed International Airport currently serves over 50 airlines, connecting 102 destinations in 56 countries.
