Polygon Co-Founder Mihailo Bjelic Steps Down from Foundation Board
Mihailo Bjelic, a co-founder of Polygon, has announced his departure from the Polygon Foundation board. He shared this news on X on May 23, 2025. Bjelic will also reduce his daily involvement with Polygon Labs.
Polygon, initially known as Matic Network, was launched in 2019. As then, it has achieved critically important milestones. These include advancements in zero-knowledge technology. The project has also welcomed major global brands.
Bjelic entered the crypto world in 2013,diving deep by 2017. He co-founded polygon with Jaynti Kanani, Sandeep Nailwal, adn Anurag Arjun. The project became a popular proof-of-stake blockchain in the U.S. in 2023.
He explained his decision, saying that as projects grow, visions sometimes diverge. He feels he can no longer contribute effectively. However, he believes in Polygon’s future success and will support it from a distance.
His exit follows Kanani’s departure in October 2023 and Arjun’s in March 2023. Arjun left to focus on Avail, a modular blockchain. Nailwal, another co-founder, expressed deep gratitude for Bjelic’s contributions.
Despite his departure, Bjelic remains confident in Polygon’s continued success. He plans to support the project from the sidelines.
