Solana Set for Major Upgrade to Enhance Scalability
Solana (SOL) is preparing for a significant upgrade to boost its network’s efficiency. On May 5, Helius, solana’s development optimization service, announced the launch of Agave v2.2. This update aims to enhance the blockchain’s scalability and transaction speed.
One of the key changes is increasing block capacity by 20%.This means Solana blocks will now support 60 million compute units, up from 50 million. As a result, the network can handle more transactions per second, reducing congestion.
Agave 2.2 also introduces the Account lattice hash, replacing the older Merkle trees. This new system only tracks changes in account data, rather than the entire dataset. This change significantly lightens the network’s load.
for developers, the upgrade offers several benefits. They can now pause and update apps without deleting them, saving time and resources. Additionally, developers can update small parts of an app instead of reuploading the entire codebase.
Users will also benefit from enhanced security features. Solana has added support for passwordless logins, making apps safer for Web2 users. This upgrade is a step forward for Solana, which faced criticism over network stability in 2022.
