Texas Rep Proposes Crypto atms in Federal Buildings
Texas Representative Lance Gooden has urged the General Services Administration (GSA) to install cryptocurrency ATMs in federal buildings. In a letter to Acting GSA Administrator Stephen Ehikian, Gooden highlighted the need to modernize public infrastructure and support the growing use of digital assets.
Gooden believes this initiative would show that the government is embracing innovation safely. He wrote, “Adding crypto ATMs in federal buildings aligns with President Trump’s vision of U.S. leadership in cryptocurrency.”
Gooden’s proposal includes strict identity checks, clear fee policies, and anti-money laundering rules. He also stressed the need for collaboration between regulators, tech providers, and compliance experts to protect consumers.
Crypto ATMs have become more popular but have faced regulatory scrutiny. Law enforcement worries about fraud and scams. Gooden’s letter addresses these concerns, calling for clear guidelines to reduce risks.
By placing crypto ATMs in federal buildings, Gooden argues, the government can offer practical financial access and educate the public on digital assets, especially in underserved areas. the GSA has not yet responded to the request.
