Ronin Network Enhances Security with Chainlink Integration
the Ronin Network, a blockchain for gaming, has successfully migrated its Ronin bridge to Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP). This move aims to boost security and accessibility for gamers and developers.
On April 25, the ronin Network, known for its web3 gaming platform, completed the migration.Chainlink’s CCIP now serves as the bridge’s primary cross-chain infrastructure. this decision follows a community vote in October 2024, where Chainlink was chosen over LayerZero and Axelar.
Chainlink now safeguards over $450 million in assets on Ronin. Trung Nguyen, CEO of Sky Mavis, the team behind Axie Infinity, highlighted the meaning of this transition. He stated, “This migration is a crucial step for Ronin, making it the most secure and user-pleasant gaming chain in Web3. Developers can build faster and safer applications, while users can easily transfer assets across multiple chains. This upgrade comes after a major exploit in 2022, where hackers stole over $600 million in crypto.The platform had paused transactions in August 2024 due to a suspicious $10 million withdrawal. The new setup allows for seamless asset transfers,including AXS,YGG,BANANA,USDC,and Wrapped Bitcoin. Users can now use the Chainlink CCIP-powered Ronin Bridge app for asset transfers. The platform aims to become the go-to chain for gaming and consumer use.
CCIP ensures secure and swift cross-chain transactions. it supports the network’s growth into a leading Web3 gaming hub.The legacy bridge tab is still visible as some users haven’t claimed thier Ethereum tokens.
