Google Tightens Crypto Ads Policy in EU
Starting mid-April, crypto businesses in the european Union must meet new rules to advertise on Google. The tech giant is updating its policy to align with the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation.
From April 23, crypto exchanges and wallet providers must be licensed as Crypto-Asset service Providers. This license should come from a relevant national authority. google’s official notice outlines this requirement.
The policy affects 30 EU countries, including major economies like Germany,France,Italy, and Spain. Advertisers must also comply with local laws and get Google certification.
Some countries have a grace period for existing licenses. Such as, Finland, France, and Germany will recognize current licenses until specific deadlines.Finland’s deadline is June 30, while Germany’s is December 30.
after these deadlines, only MiCA licenses will be accepted. Google will warn advertisers before taking action on any violations. This change ensures a safer and more regulated crypto advertising environment in the EU.
