Ethereum foundation Launches Privacy Cluster to enhance User Confidentiality
The Ethereum Foundation has unveiled a new initiative called the Privacy Cluster. This move underscores the foundation’s dedication to bolstering privacy within the Ethereum ecosystem.
The Privacy cluster gathers 47 experts, including researchers and engineers. igor Barinov, the founder of Blockscout, leads the team. The initiative aims to integrate various privacy projects and support key privacy features on Ethereum.
Why is this crucial? Ethereum was built to be the bedrock of digital trust. Privacy is central to maintaining this trust. The cluster will work closely with the Privacy Stewards of Ethereum and the Ethereum Foundation. It continues the work started by the PSE team in 2018.
The foundation believes privacy should be a core aspect of Ethereum. they aim to make this a reality for both individuals and institutions. This aligns with the foundation’s privacy roadmap, announced in September. The cluster will focus on several projects. These include Private Reads/Writes, Private Proving, and Private Identities. It will also focus on the Privacy experience and the Institutional Privacy Task Force. The team will explore cutting-edge cryptography, scalability, and confidentiality. They will develop tools like Semaphore and stealth addresses. The goal is to improve payments, governance, and identity.
The cluster will also work on real-world assets, trading, and compliance. The Ethereum Foundation recently sold 1,000 ETH to fund these R&D projects. This shows their commitment to privacy and innovation.
