Taiko Launches Hoodi Testnet for Developers
Taiko has unveiled its latest public testnet, Hoodi, now serves as the primary developer environment.
TaikoS Hoodi Testnet Takes center Stage for Developers
Taiko has launched Hoodi, its new public testnet, effective September 25.this move marks a significant milestone as Hoodi becomes the main testing ground for developers working on Taiko’s Ethereum-based rollup.
With the introduction of Hoodi, the older Hekla testnet will be phased out by September 30. This aligns with the Ethereum Foundation’s decision to deprecate the Holesky testnet, which Hekla was built on. Hekla has been crucial for teams experimenting with Ethereum scaling through Taiko’s Alethia rollup. Developers used it to refine products and test integrations.
Key features of Hoodi include preconfirmations, which speed up transaction processing by providing early confirmations. This allows developers to test faster transaction flows and simulate mainnet conditions more closely. Hoodi is also integrated with Ethereum’s validator and staking infrastructure, ensuring a reliable testing environment.
Developers can access Hoodi using Taiko’s bridge and faucet tools, ensuring a smooth transition. The underlying layer 1 testnet is expected to function until 2028, providing long-term stability for infrastructure providers and staking operators.
Taiko plans additional improvements for Q4 2025, including the Shasta hard fork and the launch of the gwyneth testnet. These updates will improve base fees, reduce transaction costs, and transition to zero-knowledge proofs.Preconfirmations on the mainnet are also expected later this year.
To avoid disruptions, developers currently on Hekla must migrate to Hoodi and withdraw assets by September 30.
